It is obvious that authorities seem to have been selectively targeting a gay club in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng which was raided by police on July 19, 2009.

The comment by the police inspector stating that men were dancing in an erotic manner certainly needs clarification. Were the people dancing naked? Is the dance in any way illegal?

Since the place is a disco and a pub, there would bound to be people dancing and having a good time. There is nothing wrong with people wanting to relax and maybe release tension by dancing.

With a little alcohol involved, some people many start to behave more unconventional but as long as no laws are broken, then it is fine.

Although 32 patrons were found to have tested positive for syabu, I strongly believe it is not a drug joint. I can safely assume that there will be bad hats who patronise other clubs, discos, pubs and even public areas.

Kindly note that there are many other pubs and discos nearby in which should be subjected to surveillance and raids since there are also patrons who dance in an 'erotic' manner.

Walk along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng which leads to Jalan P Ramlee, and pimps openly offer services of escort girls and other services to be "discussed" in private. What are the authorities doing about this?

Since the authorities boldly claimed that that they raided a gay club, why not charge all the patrons under Section 377 of the Penal code which criminalised 'carnal intercourse against the order of nature' and 377A criminalised 'gross indecency' between two males?

I strongly think that the authorities should be more sensitive in their reporting since gay and lesbian people are often unfairly targets of prejudice and ridicule.

It also seem to me that the authorities tend to be focusing more on prosecuting cross-dressers and banning local films on illegal racers, cross-dressers or transvestites.
