I read the way how the local mainstream media reported the Aug 1 march against the ISA.There are too many tell-tale signs which, if you care to put together, shows how much news is being fabricated in one direction.

Let me share my observations. On Friday night, even before the strike had started, roadblocks had been set up at non-strategic places. Although I was fuming at the traffic jam, caused by the police, I could not resist laughing at the way the road blocks were implemented in some places.

I shall just mention two locations: One near Eastin Hotel in Petaling Jaya, and a second one in Kepong. At the Sprint Highway near Eastin, they had a roadblock near the petrol stations. A bottleneck was created when traffic from four lanes had to go through one lane.

Now, the boys-in-blue are not a very clever lot. Many motorists used the service lane to escape the road block. The same happened in Kepong as well. We were chatting among ourselves in the car.

There was no way the police was going to arrest a full car load of young people. If they did, on what grounds? Surely, they cannot say that they are arresting them for being suspected protestors!

What was the objective of the roadblock? To create frustration so that people would lash out at Pakatan parties? True enough, on Monday, Aug 4, all articles were slanted in that direction.

I didn't see any of the protestors being violent. For many years, people have been asking the government to abolish the ISA.

If the government had been listening and decided to repeal the law, instead of having a whitewashed act with a name change, the protestors would not have gone on to the streets.

There is no reason why the protesters could not be to allowed to go on a walkathon towards the palace. Their objective was to deliver the memorandum.

The police could have been more professional and supervised the walkathon, instead of indiscriminately firing tear gas and water cannons.

If the government does not repeal the ISA, people will eventually reject the BN.
