I believe the Malaysiakini reporter who wrote this article must be one of those young activists that joined Malaysiakini to write stories at will ( The curious case of Dr M 'mudah lupa' ). He joined, perhaps, without really knowing the history of politics and how politics really works, and how it has taken its roots in every conceivable form and name.

Dr M will be Dr M and his service as PM will and must not give anybody any doubt as to what he was, is and will be. The younger generation must also not indulge themselves in selective amnesia as well, where they focus on the misdeeds of Dr M and leave out his great achievements which in the process brought this nation.

Less than 35 years ago, he led us to the rank of the most successful nation in Southeast Asia (if you can count the peanut Singapore a nation), if not one of the most successful in Asia.

Malaysiakini probably has selective amnesia about Anwar Ibrahim's stint in Umno and his transgressions then. I can also tell you that every one of the politicians, local and foreign, have some skeletons in their closet.

So to all young writers and activists, if you want to dig up history, than go back a few hundred years. Leaders were killing, maiming and doing whatever they wanted in the name of colonialism.

Would the rest be better off if Malaya did not form Malaysia with the non West alaysian states? Just for the sake of Sabah and Sarawak, we should have two celebrations instead of celebrating our Independence day with them? East Malaysia has nothing to celebrate: they did not have to fight for Independence!

I can only wonder how they would be like if they became part of Indonesia instead.
