I refer to the Malaysiakini report Muslim lawyers want action taken against SIS, WAO .

Dear Muslim lawyers, after reading through your statement concerning SIS and WAO, I wonder where is your factual reasoning and enlightenment for us, the ‘less holier than thou’ Muslims.

Why is it that questioning the implementation of syariah law is tantamount to insulting the Yang di Pertaun Agong and the Malay rulers?

Why can't the syariah law be questioned by us, concerned Muslims who earnestly want to uphold and be committed to the true divine revelations of Allah and His messenger Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)?

In actual fact, the various syariah laws written are the results of various human interpretations of the Divine revelation (the Al Quran). And that is why, even in our tiny country Malaysia, we see non-uniformity in the enactment and implementation of syariah law.

What more when compared to other Muslim-majority countries worldwide. Obviously, human interpretations of the divine revelations on any common issue of concern to the Muslim ummah are not infallible.

Else, how do you explain the undeniable existence of the various schools of thought or ‘mazhab’ (followers of Imam Hanafee, Shafi'e, Maliki, Hambali, etc)?

Oh please, for the sake of upholding the sanctity and true teachings of Islam, do not abuse and misuse the royal institution of our nation for your God-knows-what agenda.

Why don't you address the much bigger and massive insults to Islam such as the endemic level of corruptions (among the Malays, thus Muslims) in our country, the ISA, Islamic banking (huh, yet ironically on the ‘kuffar’ capitalist platform?) and all those strictly prohibited vices in Islamic teachings that are rampantly committed by Muslims themselves.

If you think we, the ‘less holier than thou’ Muslims, are not fit to question the syariah law, then please do not apply the law onto us. How can we not question any law written by mere mortals when they directly and indirectly affect our daily lives?

All I can see is that there is absolutely nothing holistic in the discourse you are showing except the misplaced word ‘Muslim’ you give to your so-called lawyers group.
