`Two Malaysian Indians will be charged next week for arson, offences under the Firearms Act and possibly attempted murder in relation to the attacks on churches this month... They will also be charged for inciting racial unrest... and under the Fire Arms Act....'
`Earlier, two Malaysian Indians were charged for causing the death of police detainee A Kugan (although the government had earlier suspended a dozen police personnel over the matter)..'.
`Two Indians were arrested for the stealing and selling of two jet engines (despite a minister's statement that a brigadier general and 40 other officers were involved).
`The government had no choice but to act on the basis on law and the demands of justice and no other factors in charging the Indians.'
`Two Chinese have been charged over the Port Klang Free Trade Zone controversy...'
Dear Malaysians
The above will be the type of news you will see from now on under the 1Malaysia of our government unless things change for the better.
As illustrated by the ongoing episode over the term Allah, the Umno-led government could have nipped the matter in the bud. Instead, they have played to the gallery and used the issue to project themselves as the champions of Malays.
Now we have on our hands attacks on churches.
One question lingers in my mind. Is Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein a minister for Malays only? or for all Malaysians?
If he really is a minister for all Malaysians, then he has no right to appeal in the name of only one section of the fanatical Malays.
He cannot and should not use government machinery and taxpayers' money to fight for a small group of Malays. For he is the minister for Malaysian Christians, Indians. East Malaysians and many others.
I see there is no end to the dilemma caused by Umno ministers. How about filing an appeal for non-Malays when their rights are trampled upon their temples broken, scholarships denied to non-Malays?
If not, then call yourself a Malay cabinet, not a cabinet for the government of Malaysia. And don't ever use 1Malaysia.
