I refer to the Malaysiakini report PKR slaps gag order on Zul Noordin .

The recent flap and lack of action by Anwar Ibrahim's PKR over Zulkifli Noordin's police report against Khalid Samad is symptomatic of a leader who is indecisive and a political chameleon.

With the threat of defections in the wings, it would seem Anwar is fast losing the thread and if PKR is not careful, it will be heading into oblivion soon. No wonder Zaid Ibrahim is seething!

Anwar is under siege and it seems no amount of political adroitness or smooth-talking can extricate him from the hole that he is in now.

Perhaps we Malaysians and Anwar himself too, had better learn to accept that he cannot be the next prime minister, at least not in the foreseeable future and we should start planning and thinking of an opposition without its most illustrious warrior.

Unthinkable just a few months ago, Umnos relentless assault and recent events have conspired to put Anwar on the back foot and if allowed to continue, will weaken the opposition drastically before the next elections.

While we can feel sorry for the man who has done so much to expose the frailties of the BN and usher in a new era of politics, Anwar must be the first to admit that some of his troubles are of his own making.

The struggle must continue and it is time good people in the opposition step up to the plate and take the fight to BN.

However, Anwar still can play a role if incarcerated and Umno should not be pleased to be rid of him for it is the manner that he goes that will ultimately sway public opinion.
