Honda City driving him up the wall
I bought a Honda City IDS registration number BJG 8404 on Nov 21, 2006. Since I purchased the car, I have been sending to Honda authorised dealers for service. About one year ago, I found some spots of rust on my car and reported this to the service centre and they told me wait for six months to see if the rust develops further or just remains as spots.
As the rust developed on many parts of my car, I reported the matter last month to an authorised dealer at Bayan Lepas, Penang but they just brushed me off saying it was due to stones chipping the paintwork.
After my persistence, the foremen then agreed that it was not due to stones and he took photos and sent a report to the Honda service centre and promised that he would get back to me in two weeks.
As there no news from him, I called him and he said that he didn't get any reply from Honda and requested me to contact Honda Service at 1-800-88-2020 directly. However, when I called them directly, they told me to refer back the matter to the authorised dealer.
After my persistence, they called the dealer but arrived at the same conclusion that it was due to stone-chipping. After further argument, Honda Service agreed to seek a second opinion from Kah Motors, the sole agent for Honda vehicles in Malaysia.
However, when I went to Kah Motors at Sungai Pinang , they refused to check my car and kept on insisting there was no point checking as a the final decision was only going to be made by Honda.
After a short arguments and a few calls to Honda Service, they inspected the car and made the conclusion that it was due to stones and a manufacturing paint defect. Despite this, Honda made the decision that it was due to external factors and I am not entitled to a claim.
What really makes me angry is that:
1. It was so difficult to contact Honda Service through their toll-free number 1-800-88-2020.
2. The Honda Service representatives never answered or replied promptly forcing us to call them numerous times. I can prove this with my phone bills from TM and Digi.
3. The Honda representative couldn't be bothered to inspect my car.
4. The Honda representatives made their conclusion without physically inspecting my car.
5. One Honda representative even challenged me to ‘contact anyone’. She blocked me from talking to any higher authorities and kept on saying that their decision was final.
