In Malaysia we have submarines that can't go underwater, helicopters that fall out of the sky, and fighter aircraft with missing jet engines. We have cow head protests, church arson, surau arson and lots of unexplained suicides of persons held in detention.

We have rampant billion ringgit corruption, shameless wholesale theft of public funds and egregious abuses of power by our political elites. All this reality and all these facts make Umno look bad, and Umno will lose the next elections if it continues to look bad.

Even worse, it has failed to make itself look good even when it tries to make other people look bad. Umno could not even make the Catholic Herald look bad because PAS told Umno to study the Quran properly first before making unsubstantiated accusations over the ‘Allah’ issue.

The fact is that it is a lot easier for Umno to make up meaningless slogans like ‘1Malaysia’ than to remove one's itchy fingers from the kitty jar.

So when you cannot reform your own party, when you fail to even scapegoat other people, and refuse to go cold turkey from 50 years of money addiction, bald-faced corruption and absolute power to steal to your heart's content, then what can Umno do in ‘1Basketcase Malaysia’ to look good ?

The Umno solution to all these serious problems is to cane women. Caning women = establishing pious image for Umno = entrench religious image for Umno = more votes from Malay-Muslim voters.

Caning women distracts the rakyat from the rampant corruption, theft, abuse of power, racism and scapegoat-ing of the minorities. At the end of the day, only the poor and the nobodies will get caned in Malaysia.

The rich and powerful who admit to adultery with Mongolians will still get to do their PhD degrees overseas. The reality is Umno will cane anybody to make itself look good. The last time around Umno tried to make the Catholic Herald look bad.

Now it will make P Gunasegaran look bad. Three women and four men - that is, seven Malay-Muslims got caned to make Umno look good, look pious, and look like defenders of the race and religion.

Umno needs to win the next elections. It is that simple. How many more people will have to be caned and punished to make Umno look good? Your guess is as good as mine.
