The write-ups above that Pakatan Rakyat lost in Hulu Selangor due to the lack of support from Hindraf is disappointing. The writers seem to have tunnel vision.

Hindraf is an extremist organisation. Full stop. And as such, it has to reinvent itself as a human rights party and ‘Makkal Sakthi’ and what-not.

The Malays would not vote for Pakatan Rakyat if Hindraf is seen in the Pakatan Rakyat fold.

Indians only form 8% of the voting population and they are concentrated mainly along the West Coast of West Malaysia.

There are 222 seats in parliament and to win a majority and form the government at the federal level, it is imperative that Pakatan Rakyat chose the middle ground instead of pandering to all kinds of extremists whether they are from the Malay, Indian or Chinese community.

Hindraf are only good as activists. Not as a political party.

This recent by-election loss of Pakatan Rakyat should not be taken as a defeat. The difference was only 3.5%. Pakatan Rakyat cannot neglect the 23, 272 voters who voted for them.

Would BN dump that much of money as they did in Hulu Selangor in all 222 the constituencies in Malaysia tomorrow? The answer would be ‘no’.

The loss of Indian votes to BN shows that the Indian elected reps in Pakatan Rakyat are not good at their strategies. It is time the Indian elected reps in Pakatan Rakyat come up with better ideas.

Or maybe, it is time for the Pakatan Rakyat leadership bring in a better, more talented Indians into the coalition; those who can win the votes of the Indian community in Malaysia.
