Please have mercy upon the teachers who are working so hard, especially in secondary schools!

They have endless sessions of meetings each and every single day and sometimes meetings of aimless agendas still go on just for the sake of making the teachers stay back after school hours.

The workload keeps increasing day after day, teachers are working much more than normal office staff are doing. Teachers work extra time without any extra payment.

Besides teaching, they have to handle lots of red tape which should be done by the school clerks. What are the school clerks there for?

Teachers also need to participate in events organised by the school or any events involving them or the students.

Other than that, I don't see the point of forcing every teacher to attend seminars or talks on mannerism, methods of teaching, character building as not all the teachers are uncivilised or inexperienced. These talks should be attended by trainee teachers, fresh graduates or new teachers only.

Remember that teachers need every bit of energy they have left after teaching to revive them for the next day of lessons in school.

They are not made of steel and bronze, they should not be burdened with workloads that are not their responsibilities and are not necessary.

Imagine, how would a teacher teach his/her students with full of zeal, inspiration and energy while being overwhelmed with other unimportant red-tape and duties?

How can we then fulfill Vision 2020 to achieve leadership excellence through the next generation without proper focus on the educators? Teachers are exploited and now not appreciated.

I hope that the ministry of education and the government will carry out careful observations on the workload of the educators in schools.
