I find this deceptive statement amusing: ‘The bottom line is that the scripture has never said that being homosexual was a sin.’ Please read Romans 1:24-27:

‘Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts.

‘Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion’.

We believers for 2,000 years have wrongly thought that Romans 1 was about homosexual sin. Consider that Paul is instead was showing in Romans 1 the basis of all sin, how replete it is in all humans, so that all need a saviour. We are all guilty for not praising and thanking God in all things, being obsessed with our mortal lives instead of the eternal one we have with God, not considering it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, etc.

That is why in Romans 2:1 Paul says that to the degree that one would judge another they condemn themselves, because they do the very same things.

One may be an adulterer, and another a slanderer, another a coveter, but all struggle to praise and give thanks to God in all things or have been guilty of indulging in the things of the flesh over their eternal relationship with God or have abandoned the knowledge of God, for that which was apart from it.

And in regards to Romans 1:24-27 it is about ‘they exchanged the truth about God’s love (God is love) for a lie and worshipped and served the created (powers and principalities, the things that Christ said we were to battle against) and were given over to the things that served them (in this case, shameful lust?

But being gay is not about shame. Being homosexual is no more about lust than being heterosexual. Homosexuals do not bond out of lust but instead mutual love, affection, devotion, trust and respect for a shared committed life together - the same as heterosexuals.

Because they were given over to ‘shameful lust’, they abandoned the natural, the natural being those things that were of and exuded the fruit of the spirit of Galatians and were of the love of the second commandment (love neighbor) and brought them peace, for those things that were not and brought no peace.

Natural is about those things that are of the spirit Christ through which all were created. God is spirit. The things of God are about spirit. They do not depend on, or are limited to physicalities (he can turn these stones into the sons of Abraham).

Homosexuals have never been attracted to women or have never desired to bond with women, since their earliest sexual memory. No one can abandon something they never had.

‘Their due penalty, self-hatred and self-loathing’. There is nothing self-loathing in the essence of being homosexual. All the proud parades are for confronting 600 years of societal shame starting with King Henry of England (1500’s) who made homosexual sex a hanging offence.
