Paying for Shuhaimi will haunt Pakatan in GE 13
I refer to the report: ' Don't waste public funds on Sri Muda rep '.
The fact here is the Sri Muda representative Shuhaimi Shafiei is being sued under his personal capacity for something he put up in his personal blog. On that, I agree with Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang that the posting was his personal action as an individual and not something done officially on behalf of Selangor state government.
While I am against the use of Sedition Act against the Pakatan Rakyat (which I think is politically motivated by BN) assemblyperson, it is a separate issue when using state money to assist PR reps.
If it is wrong for BN to use state money to pay their personal legal bills, isn’t it now wrong also for Pakatan to use state money to pay their personal legal bills?
As Tan right said, Pakatan should use their own money to pay for their PR reps private legal bills.
Alternatively, I suggest Pakatan hold a fundraising activity to pay for Sri Muda state rep legal bills.
I would certainly donate (though not much) to it as I want to see what will the court decide on this politically motivated sedition charges.
Maybe Malaysiakini can help them out on this by publicising the bank account number for contributions?.
In any event, I think the Pakatan lawyers in the case should not put up a high legal bill. They should also sponsor something (for example, free legal fees, and charging only for the actual costs incurred).
I have seen how these lawyers reap out their clients to make money from legal case. I am wondering how much these lawyers will make from this case.
Pakatan, don’t use Selangor state money to fund the legal bills. If you do, it will haunt Pakatan in the next general election.
