We ran into an unpleasant experience when we checked in at the KLIA MAS counters for our MH1166 flight back from Kuala Lumpur to Penang last Friday.

Firstly, there was no clear signage if there was a luggage scan counter or not. Somehow, you are expected to know that.

Secondly, there was no consistent signage to indicate if the check-in counters were for international or domestic flights.

Two stony-faced check-in staff handled our us and at first impression, were sorely lacking a customer mindset.

We were told that we should have checked in at 'Counter B' which was for domestic flights.

We stated we were not aware of it and asked where was the signage of such instruction in the immediate vicinity of the check-in counter.

One of the staff highlighted that the signage arrangement to check in passengers is under the purview of MAS Kargo and MAB.

Obviously, there is still much room for improvement of the signages here.

The staff grudgingly obliged to process our check in after we asked to see their supervisor and argued that there was clearly no such static signage at their counters.

They also seemed impatient to read our online booking printouts. Our check-in was transacted without a single apology or thank you from the MAS staff.

What happened to the Malaysian courtesy, or is it exclusively reserved only for foreign tourists? If you were the customer experiencing this, would you fly again with MAS?
