A Kedah-based anti-corruption NGO has accused state PKR chief Wan Salleh Wan Isa of having misappropriated RM150,000 from the party's coffers last year.

Kedah Anti-corruption Action Group president Khairul Anuar Ramli said he got this information from reliable sources within PKR.

Khairul Anuar said the money was from the party's Kuala Lumpur headquarters and was to be channelled to the 15 PKR divisions in Kedah, which have yet to receive any funds for their programmes.

"We are told the party division leaders are using their own money to pay for activities and programmes," Khairul Anuar told a press conference in Kulim today.

"If the allegations are true, PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim must sack Wan Salleh from his post," added the former Kedah PKR Youth chief, who resigned from the party after the 2008 general election in which Pakatan Rakyat, led by PAS, took over the state government from Kedah.

When contacted Wan Salleh denied the allegations, saying that he has yet to receive a single sen from the party's headquarters.

He denied knowing Khairul Anuar, challenging him to show proof of his allegations.

'Evil people trying to make mischief'

"If he has proof, ask him to come and face me," said Wan Salleh.

"These are evil people trying to make mischief to undermine the party in Kedah," he added.

Khairul Anuar also claimed that Wan Salleh often went to Langkawi for "clandestine activities".

"As a party leader, Wan Salleh must clarify these allegations," said Khairul Anuar, who was accompanied by the NGO's deputy president, Saiful Ambar Abdullah Ambar.

Khairul Anuar added that disgruntled PKR members in Kedah have complained they are unhappy that outsiders are to be fielded in the Kulim-Bandar Bahru and Padang Serai parliamentary seats.

The current MPs for the seats - Zulklifi Noordin and N Gobalakrishnan left the PKR to become independents after disagreements with the top leadership.

On the Langkawi allegations, Wan Salleh said, "My home is in Langkawi. I go home everyday and sometimes carry out my party activities from there.

"If I have ever had any clandestine activities, please ask this Khairul Anuar to show proof."

On the issue of outsiders contesting PKR seats in Kedah, Wan Salleh said the two MPs who left the party were "frogs".

He added: "Saifuddin Nasution, the party's secretary-generalis being sent to Kulim-Bandar Bahru while N Surendran, our vice-president, will be fielded in Padang Serai.

"These are top leaders being sent there to prove that there are no more frogs in our party. This is not for us to decide, but for the top leaders, especially Anwar."

Wan Salleh urged Khairul Anuar and those backing him to come forward to make their claims.

"Those who are backing Khairul Anuar, who wants to be a candidate but failed to make it, so they are doing all these to trouble the party," he added.
