I refer to the letter Turban the target after tudung ? (Feb 1) . The Singapore government has continued to allow turbans to be worn by Sikhs because the practice was handed down from the British.

This tudung (head scarf) issue has been blown out of proportion by politicians in Malaysia.

Umno and PAS, having reached a stalemate in trying to win more Malay support, have turned their guns towards Singapore. Both are trying to score points by portraying themselves as the protectors of Malay Muslim rights.

They are least concerned about the danger of race riots which happened in the sixties and claimed the lives of both Chinese and Malays. What they fail to realise is that because of the proximity of the two countries, any racial problems here will also affect them as well.

M Singh should wonder aloud why his race and other non-bumiputra have been discriminated in Malaysia all this while. He should speak up for the abolishment of university quotas, the bulk of government projects being given to the bumiputra etc. These issues have never been a case in Singapore.

In fact, Singaporean education, which is focuses mainly on academic results, has been a draw to many Malaysians of other races who are deprived of a chance to enter into a university in their own country despite scoring excellent results.

When are these discriminatory policies going to end? My two cents bet is not in my lifetime.
