It was the Indonesians that first captured the news. Now it is operation Black Crow that is coming into the limelight. What fascinates me most is the manner in which the Malaysian police are dealing with illegal immigrants.

In both cases, the police retreated: the first because they were fierce and now because they are much bigger in size. One cannot but help think of the substance of Malaysian police personnel that are recruited to protect the Malaysian taxpayers.

It is quite pointless for the police or the immigration to try and raid workers kongsi s deep inside some oil palm estate to show the public that they are doing their job.

I think immigration authorities and police should clear Kuala Lumpur of illegal immigrants first.

Take a trip down to Jalan Chow Kit. Walk along the back lanes and you will feel as though you are in Indonesia. In the evening, stroll near some of the cheap hotels and you think that you are in Africa.

All this talk of getting rid of illegal immigrants is but only talk. The Malaysian public wants to see the authorities doing something positive. Get serious.
