I think many Singapore Muslims may be happy to have Malaysians express their concerns over the PAP government's no-no to tudung in schools in Singapore.

The issue is not Singaporean or Malaysian but an issue of the rights of a minority community to a cultural and religious identity, and an argument for respect of diversity in a mainly Chinese(non-Muslim) Singapore.

The Singapore Malay-Muslim minority has faced discrimination in various ways as are minorities everywhere. Unlike Chinese Malaysians which comprise a sizable political minority, the Singapore Malay-Muslims and all the attendant problems of language, religion, mother-tongue, job ceiling for Malays, etc., are largely invisible.

The majority Singapore Chinese population are mainly oblivious to these problems. The PAP government spearheads Mandarin, Chinese education and encourages Chinese emigration.

To outsiders, even those just across in Malaysia, everything seems hunky-dory in PAP's alleged meritocracy. But it is not. Otherwise, how come the issue of Muslim girls in tudung seems taboo in Singapore?
