Your report, Bus firm goes bust, workers stranded (Feb 10) shows another example of inefficiency in our government ministries and their tidak apa (could not care less) attitude. For five years, reports have been lodged with various ministries and departments, including the Employees Provident Fund, yet no action was taken.

What were the authorities waiting for? Why didn't any of these ministries take any action? Their lackadaisical attitude speaks poorly for the countrys employment scene.

It is high time that our government enforced better regulations and made sure that employees are not given short shrift by errant employers. In recent years, many employees have been left in the lurch and owed many months backpay when the companies just shut down.

It may be a good idea to review ministerial and departmental appointments, too. Those who are put in charge should have some management experience and be more pro-active to problems. They should be held accountable for their actions (and inactions).
