MCA banned Chu Mei-Feng from holding a concert at San Choon Hall for 'moral reasons'. What morals are they talking about?

  • That she is guilty of being a party in an extra-marital affair? Then, why isnt the married male partner painted in the same light as she? Why isnt his name thrashed in the media and will MCA also move to block his visa application if he decides to visit Malaysia?

  • That she has slept with more than one man? Since she is not married yet, is she being damned for engaging in pre-marital sex? In this modern world, how many of us can say we still live by Victorian mores?

  • That she has been scandalised by the media, of which she has no control over anyway?

    • I empathise with Chu. If she were a man, she would have passed the 'moral judgment'.

    I wonder what MCAs stand is should former US president Bill Clinton decides to visit Malaysia. Ask for his visa not to be granted on moral reasons, too? If it does not, then MCA truly stands for the Male Chauvinist Association.

    It is morally wrong for us to victimise Chu further. The media violated her private space and jeopardised her political career. It is time we show her some support. Chu has not gotten much support from women's groups which chose to be more vocal on issues like the recently banned play The Vagina Monologues . Aren't women groups practising double standards here?
