I refer to the letter 'Great escapes' mock our police by Elaine LP Yeoh and I could not agree with her more. Let me just add a few more points.

At the trial of the rioting of the Indonesians, I remember one police office testifying how he 'feared' for his life during the rioting, and I believed him. But as police officers are duty-bound to uphold the peace, I am flabbergasted to think that they could be that cowardly.

Are our police able to 'contain' only peaceful demonstration by Malaysians such as those at Kesas and Masjid Negara, but are too afraid to act the same when faced with rioting Indonesians and Africans?

I wonder why our police are so much harsher to our own citizens than to foreigners. They are quick to quell all opposition political activities like ceramah (gathering) and even an educational meeting by coming out in full force and with full might, but they blundered when dealing with rioting Indonesians, fleeing Africans, armed robbers like those who committed the KLIA-coach heist and the Mamak gang that is still at large.

Sometimes you wonder if our police force have got their priorities right and should we not question their professionalism in the light of all these fumbles.

Come on, Norian Mai, you should get your police force back in shape or ship out!
