The main and only reason Why politicians keep getting re-elected is because there has never been an open and fair evaluation of their respective performance. The mainstream newspapers and television channels do not venture beyond reporting the verbose pronouncements of these "select few".

How can these precious links between the general population and their leaders be complete when there is no avenue to openly discuss the "select few's" quality and performance.

We have on record the prime ministers intervention in stifling public outcry over the years whenever there are allegations of the abuses of these politically-connected persons. Come the elections, these same well-connected politically are projected as the deliverer of the bonanza expected of the constitution's voting population.

How that is done is via the medium of the printed and electronic channels, naturally. Do these agents complain? How can they, when enormous campaign funds  the very lifeblood of the publishing industry  are pumped in to full-page advertisements during the elections?

Needless to say, the strong-arm tactics of the government using its "public order" authority and convenient restrictive publication laws, would quell any or all attempts to highlight any difference in opinion with the ruling party.

So there goes your perception of fair play and a genuine contest. The bad and even the worse are allowed in so long as he or she is useful to the continuation of the party in government. That's why the self same persons get elected but you cannot fault them  it's a profession. Who are we out there to dispute?
