In response to the report El Nino causes dam to fail , I find it amusing that the Rural Development Ministry gave such a lame excuse for what was clearly an engineering miscalculation and possible mismanagement fault.

How hard is it to understand that the dam does not work because there was not enough water to run the turbine, and the engineers had not put that into consideration when they designed the dam, and the ministry was not careful enough to audit the design before approving it. Period, simple engineering mistake.

True, weather is a major factor as dry weather produces less rain and hence water to the dam's reservoir, but blaming it on El Nino is a far-fetched argument.

I would not be laughing if common folks had said it, but from Rural Development Ministry? It just show us how 'smart', 'professional', and 'logical' the people in the ministry whom we have entrusted on to develop our country's rural area.

No wonder the majority of the rural folks are still living under poverty, without basic necessity facilities thanks to our 'smart and efficient leadership' of the Rural Development Ministry.
