As a non-MCA member, I say MCA members can keep their Dr Ling Liong Sik for all I care but Chinese society will let them know who is their leadership choice in the coming election.

However, do not take the by-election result at face value. If I am a voter, I will also likely vote Barisan Nasional because of all the goodies it promises during every election or by-election. Do not blame the people for 'grabbing' for the temptation is just too great.

I do not know if the letter writer reads Chinese but months before MCA brought over Nanyang , it ran a front-page story on Ling and former deputy leader Lee Kim Sai signing a deal agreeing to slowly step down from the MCA leadership posts to make way for the next generation.

Lim Ah Lek is the witness to that agreement. Since then, the newspaper had bore witness of Ling's other side. After the takeover, it ran front-page stories praising unabashedly Team A's hard work early this year. Team B did not share the glory and Lee Kim Sai has since been cast away too.

For news on the political scene, I prefer to read those that are not aligned to or controlled by any political parties. The reading public is not stupid. Let the Nanyang quarterly result show how well it is doing. I will not be surprised if it follows the direction that the other controlled media has gone.

If accusations of double standards have been hurled at Team B, they have only learned from Team A how to be hypocrites.
