In a recent Bernama report, Defence Minister Najib Abdul Razak was quoted as saying that the 64 Polish tanks and other advance weaponry purchased by Malaysia are not targetted at Singapore or any other country. I think it is a mark of accountability on the part of the defence minister. We must be thankful for this.

However, while the modernisation of air power and sea power are understandable given the maritime nature of our geostrategy in future, how, where and when we will use the tanks is still puzzling.

What are the worst-case scenarios in the near and medium future that compelled us to spend that sum of money? I hope Najib would further clarify.
