I refer to R Michael Owen letters Let opinions be heard (April 13), whose points of view were truly appreciated.

However, in all fairness, one cannot help but feel utter contempt for the writer who hides behind the pseudonym, Matang dan Merdeka whose letter Impound passports of liars too? (April 12th), was a response to my earlier letter Impound Passports of those who smear country

(April 10).

It is inexplicable, strange and sad, that one who claims to be knowledgeable, takes a high moral ground, assumes such a self-righteous tone in one's letter but has to hide behind a pseudonym, like a common thief!

Secondly, there was no necessity to get personal in one's attack.

However, "Matang dan Merdeka" or whatever the writer's true identity or "political agenda or aspirations are", I can assure him that I do not work at Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC).

For the record, however, if anyone should know what it means not to have "job security", with "financial, family commitments and mouths to feed", it is I — having been retrenched in October 20, 1999, with the matter in Kuala Lumpur Industrial Court 12 and scheduled for hearing only on Oct 24 and 25, 2002!
