Yap Mun Ching in her analysis Spore-Msia spat over reclamation issue wrote about the possibility of the maritime boundary between the Malaysia and Singapore creeping north at the expense of Malaysian territorial sea, a valid concern since sea boundaries in maritime Southeast Asia are anything but clearly defined.

As far as the maritime boundary between Singapore and Malaysia is concerned, it is anything but vaguely defined. The positions are fixed and not taken from the median line measured from the two coasts. There is no question of creeping as the boundary is marked geographically.
