I am amazed by Praba Ganesan's references in his letter Persuade, not provoke govt into changing

where he advocates 'moral persuasion' in promoting change.

The historical events he alluded to were anything but 'gentle'. Marie Antoinette and Louis the XVI had their heads removed by Robespierre, much blood was shed and many lives lost in the American War of Independence and Cromwell kindly relieved Charles 1 of his head, in due course.

His premise seems to be, keep requesting for change and eventually you'll get it, because 'they' can never refuse an idea whose time has come.
