Having struggled for justice, fairness and democracy for Lim Ah Lek, Chua Jui Meng and Ong Tee Keat for the past one year, MCA grassroots leaders and members will not allow our top leaders to compromise on the issue of the extraordinary general meeting. The EGM must be called and convened to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the grassroots.

It is the sacred duty of every leader and member who loves the party to attend the EGM because there are so many unresolved issues to straighten out in order for the party to regain its honour and faith.

These issues include:

  1. The forceful takeover of Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press to the detriment of the party's image in the eyes of Chinese Malaysians, and its financial implications to the party treasury.

  • The conspiratorial and undemocratic takeover of the national committee of MCA Youth.

  • The unfounded allegation against suspended MCA Youth leader Ong Tee Keat as "planner and instigator" of the Aug 3, 2001 fracas.

  • The illegal appointment of the so-called veteran committee headed by Wang Choon Weng, who was once convicted for criminal breach of trust, to influence the disciplinary committee.

  • The elimination of phantom members from the membership list.

  • The businesses of Dr Ling Liong Sik and his sons that might adversely affect the image of the party in near future.

    • There must be no compromise on these serious issues that affect the credibility, image and standing of MCA as a whole. The EGM must be convened. Even if top leaders refuse to come, grassroots leaders and members themselves must go ahead without them.

    Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should not stop the EGM and let injustices be perpetuated in MCA. I hope democracy and justice will prevail in MCA.
