By openly competing to be the better yes-men of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, both Team A and Team B of MCA are fast becoming the objects of ridicule and contempt. Neither does it do Team A and Team B any good in the coming general election.

Firstly, most of the MCA grassroots members and supporters have began to feel ashamed of their leaders invitation to Umno to intervene in the internal affairs of their party. If the shame and silent anger are not contained, it may well mean a wild swing of their support to DAP and Keadilan in the coming general elections.

Secondly, as many Malay Malaysian voters are still silently angry with Umno and Mahathir, the more MCA is seen to be pro-Mahathir, the more likely their votes will swing away from MCA candidates contesting in Malay-predominated constituencies, especially where MCA has to contest against Keadilan and PAS.

Thirdly, the Chinese is also worried, rightly or wrongly, that both Team A and Team B are 'selling out' Chinese rights, honour and dignity to Umno in return for Umno's political support in their power struggle.

It is therefore to the interest of Team A and Team B to re-adjust their strategies by conducting themselves with dignity and honour vis-a-vis Umno and Mahathir. They should be seen as daring and principled enough to stand up and speak out against Umno and Mahathir.
