Why is it so difficult for a non-Muslim the move is part of an educational programme to ensure tourists respect the local culture and tradition. This implies that the tourists are necessarily foreign and not local.

I am a Malaysian Chinese from the city. Under this ban, am I not, in spite of being local, still a tourist when I visit Tanjong Jara Resort in Terengganu with my boyfriend? Of course, I am. Can I wear my bikini? Of course, not. Can I swim in the swimming pool with my boyfriend? Sure, I cant because of the separate pools.

My religion and culture do not prohibit me from wearing a bikini or swimming in the pool with my boyfriend. So why am I equally prohibited from doing so?

Marzukis attempt at justification by appealing to patriotism in saying that the move was to ensure tourists respect the local culture and tradition is pathetic.

It is not local culture that is respected. It is PAS culture.

But PAS has no respect for my culture because my culture does not prohibit me from wearing a bikini and swimming in the same pool as persons of the opposite gender.

And why should I, a Malaysian citizen be inconvenienced from visiting another state merely by reason of PAS policies? And if PAS comes to power, with its policies implemented nationwide, I cant even do this in my own city and state!

This is exactly why PAS Islamic agenda is not suitable for a pluralistic multi-cultural society like Malaysia. In enforcing its Islamic policies that affect the public, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, PAS does not brook differences or the modern lifestyle of others.

It bulldozes its policies across. Friends and countrymen, this is what totalitarianism means by any definition!
