All the episodes of sandiwara (drama) in MCA were mainly directed by party president Dr Ling Liong Sik. He is responsible for turning MCA into what it is today. Its in a mess, its image severely tarnished and its good name ruined. As a life member of MCA, I am hurt and ashamed by whats happening to MCA today.

The show is continuing with the "peace plan" proposed by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the 'status quo' mandate for top party posts. We, the members, are meanwhile taken for granted.

The non-elective election has made us the laughing stock of the world as members are denied the right to contest in any party post (besides the branch elections which happened before the peace plan came about) though provided for in the party constitution.

The peace plan is causing more problems, confusion and frustrations among party members. It is destroying the MCA leadership which no longer enjoys dignity and direction.

Meanwhile, the party is hounded by ugly rumours of corruption and dishonesty — the blatant takeover of Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press , the disgraceful debacle of phantom members and the humiliating suspension of MCA Youth.

MCA was set up to serve the ethnic Chinese, not to enrich certain leaders or for them to turn it into their private club or feudal property. Leaders who are no longer effective should rescind their posts.

The best solution for the party now is not the peace plan but an election after exorcising the phantom members.
