I received a summon for illegal parking in January. In the summon was a portion that requested for details of the driver. I filled it up and sent it to the Traffic Police promptly with a note asking for the amount to pay. This summon was sent back to me in April without any notification and amount listed.

I was advised that there was a counter at the 1-Utama shopping mall where I can settle this summon even before the police operation was announced.

Went there no less than five Saturdays and every time there were two traffic cops telling us that the computer is out of order.

During this operation we were told by the police to settle the compounds at among others, 1-Utama and the Sogo shopping mall.

I went to Sogo on April 30 in the rain and on reaching there was told the machine said to be there had not yet been installed.

I finally managed to pay the compound of RM30.00 after queuing for three hours at 1-Utama after the April 30 deadline.

Why do we have to take this from the police and why can't they manage a proper system of payment? I do not begrudge paying the compound but surely this payment system can be managed better.

This should be lesson to our government.

We were also told that if we do not pay our summonses we would not be able to renew our road tax and licences.

If this was so the number of summonses outstanding would not be so large. Has the JPJ (Road Transport Department) failed or was the statement false?

Also someone has been threatening to arrest those who fail to pay. Doesn't this threat constitute criminal intimidation?
