Probing accuser, not accused is wrong
It would appear that the trend nowadays is for the accuser to be probed and action taken irrespective of whether the accusation is true or false and no probe or action is taken against the accused.
I do not see the rationale behind the report that the so-called deputy minister be probed for the alleged leaking of the Azalina Othman affair. I can quite understand if it turned out that the allegation is false but the allegation is yet to be proved. No one knows whether it is true or false and the person affected has done nothing to defend her name and to prove the allegation is false.
In fact, Perdana Sari , the tabloid which made the expos here, not only a sexual allegation had been made but an allegation of criminal misappropriation. Surely the police should investigate the matter irrespective of whether a police report was made or not. In some cases, even without a police report lodged, an investigation is mounted by the police.
Why this double standard here? I have nothing against Azalina and I do not know whether the allegation is true or false but an investigation will not only clear her name but also that of the body she represents.
