As a concerned citizen of Malaysia and a true blue Penangnite, I am appalled by the way the state government appears to be bulldozing the Penang Outer Ring Road project through despite the rising tide of protests from so many concerned citizens.

Whilst the PORR supposedly will solve the traffic problems of Georgetown city, why hasn't anyone brought up the debate about the massive reclamation project that will ultimately result in another massive high density development in the city which in turn will mean more traffic into a heritage city which was planned for bullock carts and trishaws?

The state government is contradicting itself by harping so much about conservation and preservation of the heritage of Georgetown but yet it is quite willing to allow a massive development project that will destroy whatever semblance we have of a historical heritage city which is already choking with traffic.

Why can't they plan to develop other parts of Penang which is still underpopulated and badly in need of development and leave our historical, precious Gurney Drive alone?

Penang will never be the same once Gurney Drive that all Penangnites remember fondly is gone forever.
