Choice of the lesser evil in next election
I wonder if the day will come when in a general election, voters vote against both ruling party and the opposition? People can no longer live with the lies. Most votes, either blank or as damaged votes, can cause this condition apart from a very low voter turnout.
In the US, electing a new government is not as critical as in Malaysia. Whichever the ruling party — be it Republicans or Democrats — does 'good' things to benefit the nation. The opposite happens in Malaysia. The ruling party for the last 30 years has turned "rule of law" to "rule by law".
The draconian Internal Security Act, 'quota' system in business and education, abuses of Malay special right, dubious meritocracy system, police and Anti-Corruption Agency's inaction over certain cases have made a mockery of our country.
The opposition parties, branded and labelled 'extremist', lack direction. One party is also short-sighted in its push for the much-feared Islamic state, a move not popular with moderate Malaysians of every religious background.
The majority of moderate Malaysians who want a fair and transparent government are caught in a dilemma as a vote for either side leads to an undesirable choice. It is really a choice of the lesser evil.
We are just hoping that one day, there will be a good and matured government to lead us to be the just and developed country for the good of all Malaysians.
