I wish to comment on the letter 'Unholy alliance between religion and politics' written by Joe Fernandez. I must point out that the letter smacks of 'godless communism'.
Godless communism has been proven to be a failure because the leader ends up usurping the role of a God and becomes the all-powerful deity. Also, by removing religion out of politics, thus another 'religion' takes over that is the worshiping of wealth and power.
Basically, what you get out of 'godless communism' is an absolute leader who is revered like a God. On top of that, corruption goes into a frenzy as everyone scrambles to suck up to the supreme leader to share in the spoils of the leader and his family robbing the country blind.
The disparity between the rich and poor becomes so huge that you end up with two different classes of society — 'the haves' and 'the have nots'.
Also, by denying people political religion as a means of satisfying their spiritual needs, you actually open a floodgate of crime and immorality.
Is that what we want, a country ruled by corrupt politicians and their clique where armed robberies, sexual deviation and perversion, poverty, police brutality, a compliant judiciary, corruption, murder, rapes and child pornography are part and parcel of our daily life?
