As a Malaysian, I feel very sceptical about the so-called resignation of our prime minister. I have never heard anyone give a sixteen month notice before. It seems like hearsay to me. I will only believe it when I hear it from the 'horse's mouth'.

There are rumours that the next general election may be called for soon. This is because Barisan Nasional is at its height of popularity with the non-muslims and moderate muslims due to the government's decision to support the Western world's 'war against terror'.

Basically, BN only needs to convince the fundamentalist muslims to vote for them in order for them to secure a landslide victory.

It appears to me that by sidelining Dr Mahathir, there is an attempt to dupe the people into thinking that Dr mahathir is truly gone. However, the truth is that he is not gone, merely hiding behind the curtains.

When the curtains are raised and there is a standing ovation, Dr M will magically reappear to retake his place.

That is why I believe this so-called resignation drama is only a ploy to deny the opposition the use of corruption, police brutality and unislamic practices which have become Dr M's legacy as election issues in the next general election.

The biggest beauty in Dr M's 'fake' resignation is that BN is able to continue to keep Anwar Ibrahim safely behind bars yet cannot be held accountable for the continuing injustices that are going on.

All in all, this is just pretense aimed at confusing voters in the coming general election.
