The late Opposition Leader Fadzil Noor's passing is a very sad loss not just for PAS but for Malaysia. I have never been much of a PAS supporter nor of other political parties including Barisan Nasional, but I have admiration for PAS under the Fadzil's helm in the last few years.

I think PAS under Fadzil has been more open to the people's aspirations for democratic change. Although PAS appears to have suffered in popularity with the proposed hudud law, I still think Malaysians are willing to hear PAS' side of the story and are still willing to engage with PAS on the issue to ensure that the hudud issue would not sideline the bigger struggle for political change in Malaysia.

The memory of his struggle for the people lives on. Condolences to his family.
