I am dismayed by the act of the four Barisan Nasional state assembly representatives in Terengganu for merely abstaining (and one was even absent!) from voting on the hudud (Islamic penal code) law.

Does this mean that they are not totally against hudud ? Or they just do not want to be seen as the "bad" guys for going "against" hudud , and in the process, be accused of going against Islam itself?

Or is it a case of withholding support for " hudud à la PAS", while " hudud à la Umno" serving would be just fine for Malaysia?

The four BN assemblypersons should come clean on this issue, and tell Malaysians what they really believe in. In fact, Umno should make public (just as it demands PAS to make public its written version of what constitutes an Islamic state) what kind of hudud it has in mind when "Malaysians are finally ready for it".
