Did PAS' extremist policies cost them the Pendang by-election? In the letter PAS' 'push' factor led to BN victory , Tai Lo Chin just believes in the end results, justifying the win with numerous theories without considering the process they were attained.

The ruling government hijacked the electorate roll of 1999 by declaring (through SPR) that they, with the National Registration Board, have cleansed the roll of (more than 1,000) dead voters. When PAS checked, it found that many of its supporters, though still alive, were missing from the roll.

It is true that some dead voters' names were removed, but many more were not. These names could be the potential phantom voters on election day.

In the Lunas by-election, busloads of them were allegedly caught and re-directed to the police station to Barisan Nasional's embarrassment. Obviously, it has learnt its lesson and these dubious voters were allegedly 'imported' into Pendang before the event this time round. No one knows how much deceit is involved in the by-elections!

How can one trust a party reputed for such underhand tactics? Sending a Malaysian to space with the Russians do not make the members of this party better leaders if they do not deem the basic human value of honesty important enough.
