According to Keadilan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the door of Barisan Alternatif is always open to DAP and other parties who agree on the 1999 Common Manifesto.

However, it is my personal opinion that, before DAP is accepted back into BA, BA has to set stricter conditions for its re-entry. It must extract an open commitment from top DAP leadership

First, that no press statement pertaining to BA is to be unilaterally issued by DAP without prior approval from the BA Presidential Council;

Second, that DAP must respect the right of component parties to have freedom of conscience and to hold on to their own ideology;

Third, that DAP must accept a democratic membership policy that allows individuals who are not elected representatives to change membership among component parties within BA without publicity;

Fourth, that DAP must agree to the setting up of a common disciplinary board to take action against any leaders and members of any component parties who openly support Barisan Nasional and against BA during any electoral campaigns; and

Fifth, that DAP must abide by majority decisions in the BA presidential council, including decisions on the allocations of seats.

Otherwise, an indisciplined and individualistic DAP would create more troubles than synergy in BA. Complete freedom of action is never compatible with any principle of organisation.
