I wouldn't be surprised if Umno Sabah becomes the next stop for former Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) leader Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan and company.

In fact, Umno Sabah is scouting around for a "credible" Kadazandusun leader to help make the party into a truly multiracial political party within the Sabah bumiputra context.

Muslims like the Bajau, Suluk, Bruneis, Iranuns, Cocos-Keeling Malays and Muslim Kadazandusuns (including Bisayas) aside, Umno Sabah already has many members from non-Muslims groups like Christian and animist/pagan Kadazandusuns; and largely Christian communities like the Sino-Kadazandusun (Sino) and Indo-Kadazandusun (Inka).

If PBS (Parti Bersatu Sabah) had not been accepted back into the Barisan Nasional recently, the party would have probably joined Umno Sabah en bloc .

Unlike Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak, nothing can be ruled out in Sabah politics where families buy "political protection" by seeking representation in as many parties as possible.

It is also quite common to see all religious faiths represented in a family. In this way, even so-called Opposition members and leaders "continue to make hay while the sun shines" unlike in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak where opposition politics means withering in the political wilderness.

Politics to many Sabahans is just plain business i.e. nothing to do with ideology, race, religion or country.
