To put it simply, I am sick and tired of hearing Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad going on and on about the Malays not responding as expected to the Umno's socio-economic prescription to combat the perceived ills of the community.

Even if it was correctly assumed that the Malays as a community need some form of extrinsic catalytic rehabilitative treatment in the form of the New Economic Policy as prescribed by Umno (mocked as 'crutches' by the good doctor himself), the Umno president himself is admitting that the medicine is not working as well as expected.

Perhaps, this is simply a case of a doctor who prescribed the wrong medication but blame the patient for not getting well. Further, to blame the medication's ineffectiveness on the intrinsic make-up of the patient implies that the good doctor is simply not knowledgeable about the physical, pyschological and physiological make-up of the patient who he claims to be his ward.

If the good doctor is also a courageous doctor as his spin makes him out to be, perhaps he should really examine if his nurses have been giving the right dosage to the right patients. If they have not, it is so very sad that a whole community is being branded as intrinsically deformed when in fact, leakages at the implementation level have gone on unchecked.

Or better still, have the courage to change the prescription instead of repeating the rhetoric of a five-foot way medicine man. Unless of course if the hidden prognosis is for the benefit of the doctor and his team, and not the patient. Prolonged hospitalisation makes good business sense for Malaysia Inc.
