I read your report, Muslim activist in Australia to escape 'political' persecution, not to seek asylum

You have tried to make a martyr of a cowardly man who, after creating enough trouble for himself and the people who (wrongly) trusted his intelligence, has now run away to a distant country to continue with his antics.

If he had been what he represented himself to be, come what may, he would have persisted in his cause (in Singapore) to bring justice to his community and country. He would have stayed back in Singapore and helped the four Muslim families (whom he misguided) till the very end.

He would have remained here to ensure that the Muslim leaders in Singapore understood the tenor of his religion, which he said they were misrepresenting. He would have fought all law suits and (being a true believer of his God and religion) would have emerged victorious at the end!

Well, this is no fable  he made several totally unsubstantiated defamatory remarks about the judge who heard his case, the government officials and people who disagreed with his garbled views of Islam — do you call this equitable?

Must the government allow for his histrionics and bad behaviour, which damage the very fabric of our society? Once again, the attorney-general's office took issue with his conduct and as per the laws of the land, he is being investigated. Now, where is the injustice?

If he claims that he has been made a victim of his beliefs, then, he should come clean by proving his grave and injurious allegations in open court. Well, that is what people of virtue, courage, conviction and firm principles would do.

He is reported to have said, "I was prepared to serve whatever sentence passed on me..." — if so, why did he run away like a coward? He rationalised his cowardice by blaming his friends and kith and kin, "...I was advised by friends and family that if I am in jail, the causes I am fighting for will be buried and forgotten. People would be even more afraid to speak out against racial and religious injustices. No one will continue the struggle."

Whom is he fooling? Singaporeans, who saw his histrionics in open court and in the public or the Australian public which is not privy to his bunkum in Singapore?

He is said to have said, "Leaving Singapore will ensure that I can continue my fight and keep the issues alive from outside in many ways like through the Internet." Any intelligent person reading this second-rate hokum would have just this to say, "Tell that to the marines!"
