Is the New Straits Times group editor-in-chief Abdullah Ahmad making a comeback to active politics?

That may not be a strange question, given that the Election Commission (EC) has proposed that a new state seat called Kok Lanas be created in its latest delineation exercise.

Abdullah, popularly known as Dollah Kok Lanas, was a former member of parliament for Machang as well as Kok Lanas (before subsequent redelineations absorbed the seat).

At any case, that was some of the early off-the-cuff responses given in Kelantan, which besides Kok Lanas, will also see another new state seat called Bukit Bunga (where the Jeli Umno division is located) in an area which can be considered "quite" a stronghold for Kelantan Barisan Nasional chief Mustapa Mohamed.

In 1999, Mustapa lost his parliamentary seat to PAS' Mohd Apandi Mohamad by a mere 693 votes after 30,882 votes were cast.

According to the EC, Kok Lanas and Bukit Bunga should have 13,181 and 11,673 voters respectively.
