I would like to comment on your report Redelineation controversy — EC explains itself . I find laughable, the statements by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Electoral Commission secretary Wan Ahmad Wan Omar.

How can the redelineation policy be fair when it is so obvious that it has increased the number of seats allocated for Barisan Nasional constituencies?

In fact, the redelineation measures undertaken are nothing short of election fraud. The idea behind the corruption of our elections which is based on the principle of unequal weighting is so simple and glaring, it should be called "Election Fraud 101".

Anybody can see that the purpose of the changes being made which have been consistent over the past two decades has been to enable the Barisan Nasional to win 80 percent of the parliamentary seats while only winning a slight majority in the popular vote.

So, although winning only a little more than 50 percent of the total number of votes, the BN wants to win a landslide victory with two-thirds majority in Parliament. In fact, this dirty tactic is nothing revelatory and is used by corrupt regimes all over the world to sideline the bargaining strength of the opposition.

Israel uses this unfair weighting method to silence their Arab population and Iraq uses it to give the Kurds little leverage over state policies. All in all, it is a shameful act and de-legitimises the whole election process.
