It will be really a sad day if malaysiakini were forced to close for lack of funds. For those who question whether it is worth the money they pay for, consider this: Where would you get alternative news that is not butchered by the scissor-happy mainstream media? Wouldn't you pay RM10 per month for it?

The problem with us Malaysians is that we tend to argue on the price but never on the value. To me, malaysiakini is valued not only for its content, but its concept — a bold and brave venture — and a thrust towards intelligent thinking and discourse.

Rather than criticise the charges, we should, on the other hand support it and work towards getting more subscribers so that the coverage can be improved further.
