I refer to People's Progressive Party president M Kayveas' call to suspend Gerakan from Barisan Nasional for its stand not to support the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English in all schools next year as reported in The Star , Aug 19.

I can only conclude that his less than tactful suggestion smacks of opportunism and downright greed. At the least, Gerakan president Dr Lim Keng Yaik had the guts to voice the party's stand even though it may not go down well within the BN circle.

As for Kayveas, that a person like him can be a deputy minister is a clear indicator of the serious rot in the present BN government.
