Where in the world is Abdul Taib Mahmud when Sarawakians needed him most?
Most of us would like to know where Sarawak's chief minister is during this haze crisis in the state.
Taib last appeared in the newspaper on Sunday (Aug 18) meaning he was in Sarawak at least until Saturday (Aug 17). There has been no mention of his activities in Sarawak since then.
He did not chair the State Security Committee meeting on Aug 21 here in Kuching despite being the chairman and that too during a period of worsening haze crisis in the state. Instead, his deputy Dr George Chan did so.
Taib's absence is reminiscent of his disappearance during the last haze crisis in 1997 when he left Sarawak throughout the duration of the haze supposedly because he was seeking a solution to the haze.
So where is Abdul Taib Mahmud? Should he not be here in Sarawak to help the people through this crisis?
