The recent spate of anti-Malaysian outbursts by Indonesians must surely come as a wake up call to Umno Youth who thinks nothing of 'bullying' the country's own minorities but cowers in fear at the sight and thought of our mighty neighbours.

The organisation in question is so adept at protesting and threatening opposition parties, be it of Malay, Chinese or Indian origin, can now only hide its tail between its hind legs while the neighbours barked hatred at our government?

Has its head lost his voice as he has been so conspicuous by his absence? Perhaps the party youths fear the retribution of the Indonesians?

While Umno Youth has a well-documented history of abusive and provocative banners and words and showing their fists on unarmed Malaysians who so much as dare to question the illogical wisdom of its leaders, the self-proclaimed nationalists within Umno Youth have yet to let out a whimper in protest against the action of burning the Malaysian flag in protest and the attempted storming of the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta.

Where are the protests outside of the Indonesian Embassy? Where are the claims of "bathing their keris in blood" in defiance at the Indonesians?

When Indonesian immigrants raised the Indonesian flag in defiance in Selangor, what they in fact declared was Indonesian sovereignty over Malaysian soil. To this, Umno Youth, the nationalistic bulwark of Malaysia's reply was stony silence?

With the spiralling violence perpetuated by these immigrants, where has Umno Youth been, in turning their formidable machinery in national defence? Nay, they are a party more adept at politicking than anything else beneficial to Malaysia.

Is the threat of the teaching of English in our schools less than the threat of armed insurgency by a country which has 'confronted' us before? Bear in mind that however our nationalised historians try to portray their versions of events in the past, it was the British, the Australians and other foreign powers who were instrumental in protecting Malaysia then. These powers are no longer available, and Malaysia's armed forces do not have the experience or weaponry to wage war against the much experienced Indonesian military.

Perhaps this national day, Malaysians must all take stock and realise that the enemy is not the Chinese, the Malay or the Indian neighbour within, but those who threaten to rob, pillage, rape and kill us Malaysians.

Forget about Umno Youth, for they are more concerned with causes that benefit their bank balances than anything else. It is time for Malaysians to stand up in unity and show our Indonesian 'neighbours' that we welcome them, we befriend them, but bite us, and we will crush them. We are Malaysians. Umno Youth are politicians first, opportunists second and sometimes, when it benefits them, Malaysians, too.
